I have been engaged in art since I was young. I paint in oils and arylics and sketch in ink.
Inspired by a rural sea-side upbringing in New Zealand, a stunningly beautiful part of the world, I have been immersed in the duel culture of Māori and European, black and white. Drawn to the unique carvings and imagery of the local iwi (tribe) Ngāi Tuhoe; The Children of the Mist.
Somewhere between the rolling swells crashing along the coast at Ohope Beach and the mist rising from the foreboding and fantastic Urewera National Park lie the inspiration of a lifetime of art. These influences, though obviously revealed and explored through my paintings, are contradicted by an adulthood spent in Europe.
There the influences are blurred and the contradictions more pervasive. My work is a kaleidoscope; in colour, in form, in meaning.
Divergence, speculation, imagination, connection. Making sense of identity, transposing between cultures, commenting on the differences, opinionative upon the harmonies, demonstrative upon the confusion, all embracing of the beauty.
My abstract paintings hold a wonder to perception and are ever changing and ever evolving. Some see faces, some see monsters, some see waves, some see chaos, some see order. It's not for me to speculate or impose.
My paintings are held in private collections around the world.

The paintings and their design may be detailed to your particular colour palate.
I can produce original work to order but utilise various techniques to produce the works, from finely painted to thickly layered and built up 'object' like works.
